Each family of Saptari clash victims to receive Rs 1 mln from govt

KATHMANDU: The government is distributing a compensation of Rs 1 million to each family of the five victims of the March 6 clash.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi will visit the incident site tomorrow and hand over the assistance, his press advisor Ramjee Dahal informed in a statement today.

Sanjan Mahato, Pitambar Mandal, Birendra Mahato, Inardev Yadav and Saniyar Ananda Kumar Sah were killed when police opened fire on them during a demonstration held by the United Democratic Madhesi Front in Maleth of Saptari.

Nidhi has directed Home Secretariat Lok Darshan Regmi to make necessary preparations.

Meanwhile, the government is scheduled to hold a seminar on security arrangements in the Eastern Development Region for the upcoming local level elections tomorrow.

In the seminar to be held at the Eastern Regional Police Office in Biratnagar, DPM Nidhi is scheduled to direct the stakeholders about the security arrangement, according to Dahal.

Similarly, the family of Basudev Sah from Amahi Bariyati in Morang, who was killed from a bullet of the Sashastra Seema Bal six years ago, would also be granted Rs one million tomorrow itself.
