KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 18
OxfordAQA - a partnership between Oxford University Press, a department of the University of Oxford, and AQA, the largest provider of GCSEs and A-levels in the UK - has appointed Shahin Reza as their first Country Director for Bangladesh and Nepal.
OxfordAQA has recently seen exponential growth internationally and is now aiming to escalate its presence in South Asia providing international schools with a curriculum that equips students with skills to think critically, collaborate with peers and apply knowledge to succeed in a fast-changing world.
Shahin Reza has over 25 years of experience in managing UK qualifications in the South Asia region with various examinations boards and the British Council. He is excited by his new challenge: "I am absolutely delighted to accept this new role at OxfordAQA as the Country Director for Bangladesh and Nepal. It is an honour to join an organisation that upholds such a strong commitment to excellence in education and that connects two of the most prestigious education brands in the world – Oxford University Press and AQA, the largest examination board in the UK. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues, educators, school leaders and stakeholders to make a meaningful impact and support learners in realising their potential."
Andrew Coombe, OxfordAQA Managing Director commented: "I'm delighted to welcome Shahin Reza to the OxfordAQA team. We're looking forward to meeting with even more schools in Bangladesh and Nepal, both important new areas for OxfordAQA. Our globally relevant international qualifications are designed to bring out the best in every student, and we're very pleased to be able to offer this to students here."
OxfordAQA offers 22 GCSEs and 14 AS and A-levels plus two student-led project-based learning qualifications designed to equip students with transferable skills for university and the workplace. The needs of teaching staff are also fully recognised through the provision of a comprehensive range of support for every aspect of delivery, including a year-round programme of free webinars and teaching resources for every specification.
Shahin Reza will also be offering schools the full Oxford International Programme which includes OxfordAQA and the Oxford International Curriculum, an all-through curriculum from Early Years to Lower Secondary.
First introduced in 2021, the Oxford International Curriculum is used by over 150 educational institutions worldwide with over 100,000 students. Curriculum materials are integrated with continuous professional development, assessment and world-class resources to develop the critical and creative thinking skills young students need for future success.
Through seven subjects – English, Maths, Science, Computing, Wellbeing, Global Skills Projects and Sustainability – schools are provided a coherent and holistic approach with year-on-year progression which integrates wellbeing and sustainability seamlessly into core subjects, equipping children with the skills to shape the future.
