Bhairahawa, June 22 :

Sixty-year-old Bhairab Bahadur Karki and his son Yam were killed in an attack in Chilhiya-2 of the district last night.

A gang attacked Bhairab Bahadur Karki and his son Yam, 35, of Gunjanagar with iron rods and khukuris in Chilhiya-2, the police said.

While the son died on the spot, the father succumbed to injuries on the way to a hospital, the police said, adding that a suspect has been detained.

Locals obstructed the Bhairahawa-Butwal road on Sunday morning to protest the killing. Traffic resumed after an agreement was reached to provide compensation to the victims’ family and book the guilty.

Meanwhile, Madhesi Mukti Tigers’ Rupandehi district chairman Arjun Chaudhari said over telephone that the duo was killed for not “giving donation to his party.”
