Fests trigger food quality monitoring

Sankhuwasabha, October 4:

Keeping in view the mass consumption of daily commodities during Dashain and Tihar, the Sankhuwasabha district administration office (DAO) started checking the quality and standards of consumers goods in the district from today.

“Today, we checked the quality and standards of consumer goods in markets and hotels in district headquarters Khandbari,” said Sameer Mardan KC of district office of National Investigation Department (NID).

The NID, district administration office, District Police Office and Sankhuwasabha Chambers of Commerce and Industry are carrying out the check.

The team today checked quality and standards of consumer goods in eight hotels and 50 shops in Khandbari, the local administration said.

“We initiated quality and standard checks of consumer goods after receiving information that goods that were prohibited by local administration were being supplied in the market,” assistant chief district officer Krishna Prasad Subedi said.

According to local residents, a kg of sugar costs Rs 70, a kg of rice Rs 60, a litre of kerosene Rs 140 and an egg costs Rs 20 in Khandbari.
