KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said films should be produced for social awareness and change in the country.

At a programme organised by Nepal Film Artists' Association in the Capital on Friday, PM Oli said the development of film sector could be measured if the films were produced as per need of the time.

"From the government side, I will make utmost effort to assist the film sector," he vowed, adding that an interaction would be held between the artists and the government in near future.

At the programme, noted cine artist Nir Shah was honoured with the 'Dirgha Sadhana' award. The award carries the purse of Rs 111,111 along with a copper plaque.
