Financial irregularities reported in up-gradation of oldest stadium

RAJBIRAJ: Financial irregularities have been reported in the up-gradation work carried out in the oldest stadium in Rajbiraj of Saptari district recently.

The locals have demanded probe and stern action against the culprits involved in the financial irregularities in the up-gradation work of the Raj Stadium in Rajbiraj.

They have also accused the Sports Development Committee and the Contractor in meddling corruption in the project.

Earlier, the Sports Development Committee had given Rs 2.5 million contract to a local contractor to fill soil up to 30 centimeters to flatten the ground.

Local Maheshwor Bharati have accused the officials of preparing to release fund without the completion of the work in the stadium. "The refilled soil of low quality and is yet to be re-rolled in the stadium," Bharati lamented.

Deepak Das representatives of the Contractor company said due to monsoon the work have been badly affected.

Chief of Sports Development Committee Mahendra Yadav accepted that the work has been low standard. He also said that the payment would be released only after the completion of the work.

It has been learned that Rs 1.5 million has already been released.

Earlier, the stadium used to hold many national level events in the area. However, it has turned into a cattle grazing area due to a sheer negligence from the concerned authorities.

Meanwhile, the rooms under the para-feet have been encroached by the minority in the area.
