SURUNGA, JHAPA: Property worth Rs 1.5 million were destroyed in a fire that broke out on Sunday at the office of Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumer's Committee based in Surunga of Kankai Municipality-3 in Jhapa district.

The fire that started Sunday night was taken under control only this morning with the help of Committee staff and locals, who worked throughout the night to put out the flames.

Nearly all the furniture inside the office along with the doors and the windows were gutted by the fire, the cause of which is yet to be ascertained, informed Committee Chair Prem Prasad Dahal.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
