Fire engine distributing water

Dadeldhura, March 30

Amargadi Municipal Office today distributed drinking water using a fire engine at district headquarters Bagkhor, in Dadeldhura.

Planning Officer Lal Bahadur Sawad of the municipality said the fire engine was used to fetch water after the drinking water crunch hit the locals hard. “The water was distributed to hotels, security personnel, public toilets and some organisations,’ he informed. He further added that hotel entrepreneurs and locals had taken the initiative to fetch the water from the confluence of Ghanteshwor, Doti. “As much as 10,000 litres water was brought three times and was distributed among locals,” he said.

It is said that dozens of hotels, industries and organisations have been badly affected due to acute shortage of drinking water. Meanwhile, hotel entrepreneurs said it was insufficient. They further added that it was like a drop into the ocean.

The locals said hotels in the areas were about to shut down due to lack of water. Hoteliers said they had even cut down food items and were compelled to fetch water in the private vehicles paying high fare. Hotelier Indra Bahadur Aire said this was not a permanent solution. “Concrete planning has to be done by the concerned authority,” he stressed.
