MORANG: Property worth around Rs 1.8 million was gutted in two separate incidents of fire in Morang district on Friday.

Police said that shops belonging to Mohammad Abbas and Ramesh Kumar Dev in Biratnagar-14 were gutted in the fire at 9:30 yesterday night.

The victims said that property worth Rs 1.15 million was reduced to ashes in the incident.

The reason behind the fire was electric short circuit.

The fire was taken under control with the help of police personnel and local residents backed by a fire brigade.

Meanwhile, a house was destroyed in a fire that broke out at Pulamichok in Tandi-8 in the district on Fridayevening.

Police said that the house belonging to Ash Kumar Rai caught fire destroying Rs 110,000 in cash and other valuables.

Police further said that cooking gas leakage had sparked the fire.
