SAPTARI: Property worth over Rs 700,000 was gutted to cinder after a fire broke out from a house of local Lakhan Mandal in Joganimai Municipality-7 of Saptari district last night, police said.

Two houses of Lakhan and his neighbour Sakala Mandal were damaged in the fire, the victims said.

Meanwhile, a fire destroyed two houses in Nighuradin VDC-5 in Taplejung district last night. Police said that property worth Rs 1 million was gutted in the incident.

Valuables including foodstuffs, clothes, Rs 100,000 in cash and one tola gold was destroyed after the houses of Bhakta Bahadur Gurung caught the fire.

Rama Maya Gurung (50) has sustained minor injuries in the incident.
