DAMAK: The first case of dengue fever in last two years has been confirmed in Jhapa district of eastern Nepal. A 52-year-old man of Damak-15 has been diagnosed with the dengue, a mosquito-borne tropical disease, according to Jeevan Chaulagain, a vector control supervisor of the Jhapa District Public Health Office (DPHO). The patient is being treated at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. Two years ago, over a dozen people had been infected with the virus in the district, mainly in Damak, while two others had died in Kakarbhitta area. The DPHO then had also listed the district as the high-risk zone for the dengue.
