Five arrested for drug smuggling in Makawanpur

HETAUDA: Makawanpur police arrested five persons including three Indian nationals on the charge of possessing illegal drugs from various locations of the district.

Police identified Indian nationals as Sivaraj Singh (28) and Gyani Kumar Paswan (24) of Zeromile Road, Muzaffarpur and Raju Mahato (24) of Shiwahar Tarihani,both in Indian State of Bihar. The trio was travelling on the car with Indian registration BR 01 PF 7998 when they were stopped for security checking at Ratomate of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-15.

Police arrested them after finding 4.9 kg Hashish hidden inside the AC compartment of the car. They were smuggling drugs to India via Makawanpur, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Singh at District Police Office, Makawanpur.

Similarly, police also arrested two persons — Raj Kumar Thing (26) and Dipesh Thing (21) of Kailash Rural Municipality-8 — along with 12.4 kg Marijuana from Kalika Dovan in Raksirang Rural Municipality-4 on Saturday. The duo was walking when police stopped for security checking on the suspicion of drug possession.

Makawanpur police made public all five arrestees during a press meet organised at the District Police Office.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
