Five arrested in Biratnagar

Biratnagar, May 30:

Five Indian citizens including three police personnel who came to Nepal along with arms and tried to arrest a Nepali citizen have been taken into police custody here on Wednesday.

Paras Malakar of Sorabhag VDC-3, Morang, was about to be taken away by the team of five alleging that Malakar’s son Santosh had forcefully married Puja Kumari Gupta of Delhi. The team included the girl’s brother and brother-in-law. However, the girl and boy had already registered their marriage in India three months ago after a court marriage, the family sources said. The police team led by Sub-Inspector Om Singh of Kalyanpuri Police Post, Delhi, was apprehended on Wednesday morning along with a loaded 9mm pistol. The other two were also held. Necessary process has been initiated to hand over them over to the India Embassy, SP Gopal Bhandari said.
