Five killed, ten injured in Dhading jeep accident

DHADING: Five persons lost their lives while ten others were injured in a jeep accident at Banjhagaun, Galchhi Rural Municipality-6 of Dhading district, today.

The incident occurred when the Bolero jeep they were travelling on, en route to Baireni Bazaar from Karki Danda in Galchhi-4, lost its control and veered off the rural road at around 11:30 am, killing four on the spot, informed Baireni Police Post.

According to eyes witnesses, the jeep suddenly lost its balance and fell some 15 metres below the unpaved road.

The deceased have been identified as Raju Ramtel (38), Setu Mijar (32), both residents of Galchhi-4, Kanchhi Bhujel (30), Nanu Tamang (25) of Galchhi-6, and Sabita Pyakurel (21) of Galchhi-4, informed police.

The injured -- including the driver of the vehicle -- were rescued from the jeep which completely overturned in the accident. They have been sent to Kathmandu for treatment. Among the deceased, Pyakurel breathed her last at Dharke on the way to Kathmandu.

It has been learnt that the accident occurred just a few minutes after Bhujel and Tamang got into the vehicle. They were headed towards Baireni Bazaar.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway.
