India's Operation Ganga, which is involved in life saving mission of thousands of Indians, has recently rescued four Nepalis stranded in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba thanked neighbouring India for helping in the safe return of four Nepalis from the war-torn country.

The stranded Nepalis arrived today, as per the PM's tweet.

PM Deuba has thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his assistance in repatriating Nepali nationals through Operation Ganga.

"Four Nepali nationals have just arrived in Nepal from Ukraine via India. Thank you Prime Minister @narendramodi and the Government of India for the assistance in repatriating Nepali nationals through the #OperationGanga,"

PM Deuba wrote in his Twitter post. Earlier, one Nepali was rescued under the Operation Ganga. A total of five Nepalis have been rescued from the war-torn country by India so far.

Meanwhile, rescue work of almost all Nepali nationals stranded in Ukraine following the Russian invasion has been completed, as per the concerned authorities.

A High Level Committee formed by the government with the coordination of Non-Resident Nepali Association has confirmed that the rescue operation of Nepali nationals is over.

The operation led by Nepali Ambassador to Germany Ramkaji Khadka has assured that Nepali nationals caught up in the war had been taken to safer places. As many as 585 rescued Nepalis have moved to different European countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Spain, Germany, Romania and Moldova.

The NRNA chapters of the countries where Nepalis have reached have also been urged to provide necessary assistance and shelter to the Nepalis rescued from Ukraine.

As many as 38 Nepali families who had acquired permanent residency and settled in Ukraine are said to have stayed back.

Currently, Nepali embassy in Germany is accredited with overseeing Ukraine as Nepal does not have its embassy there.
