RAJBIRAJ, AUGUST 4
Saptari District Administration Office has cautioned residents on the banks of the Koshi River in view of the rising water level in the river.
People have been urged to stay safe and abstain from fishing, collecting driftwood and cattle-grazing in the river and its banks.
"Though the increased water level in the river is a matter of concern and people should be cautious, there is no reason to panic given the decreasing water level now," said Chief District Officer Janardan Gautam of Saptari.
"The water level in the river has decreased from yesterday," he said, adding that the flooded river had damaged community building and a school in Gobargadha of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality.
The CDO also informed that he had monitored places deemed highly vulnerable in Kanchanrup, Saptakoshi and Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality.
"The people in Gobargadha are safe. I had monitored different wards there after the Koshi River breached an embankment in Belaka Municipality in Udayapur," he said.
According to the district administration office, it has deployed security personnel in view of the risk of the swollen Koshi River after it breached the embankment in Udayapur.
