Flood damages under-construction bridge in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: Flood triggered by incessant rainfall has damaged an under-construction bridge over Bagmati river in Rautahat district.

The under-construction bridge's slab connecting two pillars -- three and four -- was badly damaged by the recent flood in the district, according to site engineer Krishna Ghimire.

One of the locals said, although the deadline for the completion of the bridge was extended twice, the contractor company started to build the slabs at the beginning of July, the start of monsoon season.

After completion of the bridge construction, it would connect Barthawaa of Sarlahi district with Gadimai, Samanpur, Garuda and Katahariya of Rautahat district.

Earlier, Surya SBS Elite Company was awarded the contract worth around Rs 350 million for the construction of the bridge.
