Flood risk terrorises villagers
TAPLEJUNG: Village folks of Yamaphuddin VDC in this eastern hilly district are living amid terror fearing impending danger of flooding as a landmass that slid into the Kabeli River is storing up the river water.
The barricade in the river has caused the water of another river, Mathuk, to flow into it. The water-level is on a gradual rise since the landslide continues unabated, locals said fearing flood.
The landslide is a perennial problem though as the villagers are witnessing it for the last four years. The bursting of the water body is likely as rocks continue to pile on the river bed, said Abirman Rai, a local. He said the water amount had increased five-fold, compared to last year's record, hinting that it could burst anytime soon.
