KATHMANDU, MAY 2
Traffic along the Narayangadh-Butwal section of the East-West Highway has been completely halted on Friday after floodwaters swept away a diversion at Dumkibas.
According to the District Police Office, Nawalpur, the diversion over the Biyani Rivulet was washed away in the early hours, disrupting all vehicular movement.
Madhu Nepal, Information Officer at Nawalpur Police Office, said heavy and loaded vehicles have been stopped at Hongshi Gate and Arunkhola following the collapse. However, light and passenger vehicles are being rerouted through alternative roads.
Nepal added that restoration of the road will take time, and efforts are underway to resume operations as soon as possible.
