Flood victims get relief in Lamjung

LAMJUNG: Relief has been provided to flood victims of northern Lamjung whose houses were damaged after the heavy rainfall of September 12.

Support was provided to people whose houses were either swept away or damaged by floods and landslides induced by the rain.

The under construction 30-Megawatt Nyadi Hydropower Project of Bahundanda in Marsyandi Rural Municipality-6 distributed relief materials worth Rs 65,000 to the victims, said chief of the hydropower project, Uttam Amayta.

The project provided relief to 27 households of the affected area. Each of the selected households were provided 30 kilograms of rice, four kilograms pulses, two kilograms sugar, one kilogram salt, and one litre cooking oil. Likewise, five households that were displaced by the flooding were also given one bundle of zinc-sheets and one kilogram of nails each for rebuilding their houses.

The relief was distributed by the project in coordination with other stakeholders, ward offices, rural municipality and district disaster relief committee.

The hydropower project is being constructed with 97.22 per cent investment of Butwal Power Company and 2.78 per cent investment of Lamjung Power Development Company.
