Floods kill four

BIRTAMOD: More than four persons died and hundreds of families have been displaced due to the floods in the eastern parts of the country on Thursday.

Sahbir Rai's 3-year daughter Bina Rai and another child were killed when the flooded Sangolu River swept them away in Ilam.

Likewise, Santa Bhahadur Rai's daughters Phulamaya Rai, 12, and Anisha Rai, 9, were swept away in the flood at Birauta-8, Bahuban, Ilam. The floods have affected transportation along the Mechi Highway's different road sections.

Similarly, around 600 villagers have been displaced after the flooding of Kankai River in Jhapa. The flooded Aduwa River swamped Mechinagar and Birtamod Municipality of Jhapa district and Ratuwa River flooded Kohabra.

According to Narendra Dahal, Chief District Officer of Jhapa, the rescue operations have been initiated in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, around 150 houses have been submerged in Kaptangunj, Devangunj, Narasing of Sunsari district.
