FNCCI prez facilitates Colgate talks

Hetauda, November 22:

President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Kush Kumar Joshi today arrived here to settle the ongoing ownership row in the multi-national company, Colgate-Palmolive.

A meeting held after Joshi’s arrival today decided to call the employees, who do no want to work for the new management, to come up with their demands. Their demands will be handed over to the new management. The company has designated financial general director Shiva Prasad Sharma to represent the company.

In an all-party meeting held at the District Administration Office, Makwanpur, FNCCI president Joshi said industries needed to treat their employees as members of a family.

The meeting also decided to free new owner Kishor Khanal and general secretary of Industrial

Organisation, Hetauda, Achyut Pokharel, from workers’ detention. The workers had locked Khanal and Pyakurel inside the factory yesterday following the transfer of ownership .

The meeting was attended by Makwanpur CDO Anil Kumar Pandey, Industry Organisation Hetauda president Madhav Adhikary, vice-chairman Rishiram Ghimire, general secretary Achyut Pyakurel, third vice-chairman of Makwanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries Sharmila Dangol, NC district president Michael Ram Chandra Aryal, Janamorcha district president Jyoti Rayamajhi, CPN-UML zonal secretary Ananta Poudel, workers’ union leader Udaya Kumar Gupta, new investors Kishor Khanal and Kailash Khanal, the representatives of the workers and the former production manager of the company Manish Das.
