FNCCI vice-chief for including trade issues on SPA-Maoist agenda

Nepalgunj, June 24 :

Second vice-chairperson of the Federation of Nepal’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Kush Kumar Joshi today said the nation would not progress unless the seven parties and Maoists include economic issues in their agenda.

Speaking at the 14th annual general meeting of the Nepalgunj Trade and Industry Association, Joshi said, “There was no economic agenda in the eight-point agreement between the seven parties and the Maoists. If economic issues are neglected, the nation will not progress in the desired direction.”

Condemning the statement of Minister for Industry and Commerce, Hridesh Tripathi about industrialists as “brokers”, Joshi said isolated incidents of some individuals and group could not and should not be generalized. He added that all industrialists could not be dubbed as “brokers”. Joshi also urged for forming a committee to revive sick industries. Central member of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry Association, Kumud Dugar said economic change would occur within two months if the government introduces good industrial policies.

Another central member of the association, Achyut Prasai urged the seven parties and the Maoists not to do anything that would affect the economic sector negatively.

The annual general meeting was inaugurated by the chief manager of Nepal Rastra Bank, Chintamani Siwakoti.
