FNJ wants journalist Birendra Shah’s killer punished
Bara, September 6:
The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) general secretary Poshan KC today demanded the government to punish people involved in the murder of Bara-based journalist Birendra Shah.
He made this demand while visiting late Shah’s wife Umarawoti and
other members of Shah’s family in Kalaiya Municipality-6 today.
I demand the government to declare 36 journalists killed during the period of insurgency as martyrs and provide due compensations to them, KC said, adding: “The family members of slain journalists have been facing hardships in meeting even their basic needs.”
KC blamed the dual attitude of political leadership for the rising insecurity of journalists in the Tarai region.
