Food crisis-hit Baitadi locals elated after receiving rice grains for Dashain

BAITADI: People in Baitadi district in far-western Nepal have been elated at least for the Dashain festival after the rice from Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) reached the Kalau depot of the district.

People especially from the remote VDCs including Tallo Swarad, Melauli, Kulau, Udayadev and Sharmali are cheerful that the NFC has taken 60 quintals of rice in view of the Dashain festival.

Chief District Officer of Kailali, Liladhar Adhikari, said the rice was taken to the Kulau depot of Baitadi, so that people would not face food shortage at least during the Dashain festival.

The rice was sent to Baitadi from Dhangadhi regional office of the NFC.

A local Birendra Mahato, exuding happiness, said, "There is the rice from NFC. It is cheaper than the one in market. This time, we have a happy Dashain."
