Food materials have been distributed to earthquake victims of Bajura district.

The quake victims from wards 9 and 10 of Budiganga Municipality and ward 7 of Badimalika Municipality received food materials at a programme organised by the Badimalika Foundation Nepal and helped by Nepal Hilfe Aachen in the respective ward offices of the municipalities.

The food items have been distributed among 46 families of Badimalika Municipality and 65 families of Budiganga Municipality.

Budiganga Municipality's Ward No 9 Chairman Min Bahadur Singh said rice, salt, soap, cooking oil, among other food materials were distributed to the quake victims.

Badimalika Foundation Nepal Secretary Laxmi Raj Padhya said the relief materials had been distributed to the poor and earthquake victims in view of the festivals. He said the impoverished people and quake victims could celebrate the festivals with the food stuffs being provided to them. Nepal Hilfe Aachen representative Rabi Kandel said the food items were provided to the impoverished ones and quake victims after many households became dilapidated due to the quake. He further said no food was scarce among the impoverished people and quake victims during the festivals.

Meanwhile, a local at Budiganga Municipality-9 Dal Bire Nepali said it was a great help to the people facing acute food crisis during the festivals.

He said he was elated as he could celebrate Dashain with sufficient food materials at his house. Some locals, however said they had not received any relief materials even though they were genuine quake victims.

The quake destroyed many houses in Bajura. Following the disaster, many families have already left their houses. Badimalika Foundation has been helping the impoverished and needy people in the districts.
