Foreigners find Nepal safe, says NTB

Kathmandu, January 15:

Visitors at a travel show in London endorsed Nepal’s tourism slogan “Naturally Nepal...once is not enough” as “perfectly fit” for the Himalayan country.

Unlike in the past, not a single person visiting the Daily Telegraph Adventure Travel Show (ATS) 2007 queried about the security situation in Nepal this time, indicating that better are ahead for the Nepali tourism industry, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) said.

“The response to the Destination Nepal was quite encouraging,” an NTB statement said today, referring to Nepal’s participation in the show. The show was organised in London from January 12 to 14.

The travel show gave European adventure enthusiasts an opportunity to explore various adventure travel options. The NTB had offered a plethora of outdoor activities like mountaineering, trekking, rafting, jungle safari, paragliding, honey hunting and fishing.

The ATS draws travellers and exhibitors from all over the world. With over 250 travel operators, equipment manufacturers and travel media, the show registered the presence of 18,300 adventure-seekers. Talk programmes, slide shows and tourism presentations were also organised.
