KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 15

A raging forest fire in Sinwadwar of Nishikhola Rural Municipality-6, Baglung, remains out of control, posing a severe threat to livestock and surrounding areas.

According to Surya Bahadur Gharti, Chairperson of the rural municipality, the fire, which broke out in various community forests on Friday afternoon, continues to spread uncontrollably. It has been learnt that forests in Sinwadwar, Tigrapani, Koskan, and Sun have been affected by the blaze.

More than 100 sheep pens in the area are at high risk, raising concerns among local farmers who rely on grazing lands for their livestock, Gharti was quoted as saying in the RSS.

"Farmers in Nishikhola graze sheep and goats in the region, and the enclosures housing thousands of livestock are now endangered by the fire," Chair Gharti stated.

Security personnel have been deployed to contain the fire, but efforts to douse the flames have yet to yield significant progress. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
