KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 7

A house and hut were turned into ashes after a forest fire entered Okhle Dandagoun village of Taple rural municipality-1, located in the north-west hilly area of Udayapur district.

The forest fire, which occurred on Wednesday, destroyed the house and hut belonging to Ramesh Magar.

Uddhav Hamal, Chairperson of Taple rural municipality-1, reported that the fire spread from Sallaghari forest into the village. He mentioned that all goods inside the house, including food grains, utensils, and clothes, were destroyed. A strong wind exacerbated the wildfire, posing a risk to other houses in the village.

Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Area Police Office, Katari, Subhas Rai, stated that a team of security personnel from the police post in Rupatar had headed towards the incident site to assist locals in extinguishing the fire and assess the damages.
