Former minister slapped with fine for slapping CDO

BIRGUNJ: The Parsa District Court on Thursday slapped former Minister of State for Agriculture Karima Begam with a fine of Rs 2,000 for "slapping" the then Parsa Chief District Officer six years ago.

A single bench of District Judge Bishnu Subedi pronounced the verdict in the years-old case yesterday.

The sitting Cabinet member had reportedly slapped the then chief administrator of Parsa district, Durga Prasad Bhandari, at the latter's office, after he failed to arrange a new vehicle for the minister during her visit to the district, on November 10, 2009.

A month after the incident, a public offence case against the leader was registered at the District Administration Office.

The case, however, was moved to the case very recently, after promulgation of the new Constitution in September last year.
