HETAUDA, NOVEMBER 8

Former health and population minister Birodh Khatiwada, who is contesting the House of Representatives seat from Makawanpur Constituency No 2 was manhandled today while he was on his way to address an election rally at Masine of Manahari Rural Municipality.

Makawanpur police said as soon as Khatiwada got off his vehicle to address an election rally organised by the left-democratic alliance, a 55-year-old man, Purushottam Khadka, pounced on him.

Superintendent of Police Bamdev Gautam said Khadka was in police custody.

An eyewitness heard Khadka saying that Khatiwada had done nothing for people despite winning elections time and again.

Standing committee member of CPN (Unified Socialist) Khatiwada is the common candidate of the ruling alliance from Makawanpur-2.

Khatiwada has been elected to the Parliament four times.

The ruling alliance issued a statement that Khadka was under the influence of liquor when he manhandled Khatiwada.
