Four arrested on land fraud charge
Birgunj, March 5
Parsa Police today made public four persons arrested for their alleged involvement in land fraud.
Those arrested are non-gazetted first class officer Murari Timilsina at the District Land Revenue Office, Sandip Gupta, his wife Indrawati Gupta and Rajesh Gupta from Birgunj Sub-metropolis.
Around a year ago, Indrawati and her husband Sandip had sold one dhur land owned by Indrawati in Birgunj-8 by making it seven-dhur in nexus with staffers at theLand Revenue Office to one Sachendra Maharjan from Lalitpur for Rs 8 million. Maharjan came to know that he had been swindled only after he was chased away by the real land owner when he had been there a week ago. He then filed a case at District Police Office, Parsa. SP Rajbabu Shrestha said police had arrested the four people last week.
“Investigation showed that other staffers at the Land Revenue Office and Survey Office were also involved in the fraud,” said SP Shrestha.
SP Shrestha pledged to bring all the people involved in the incident to book. The four people were remanded to police custody.
