Sunsari, April 13

Four persons died and four others were injured after a car collided with a tractor and a bus in Dharan Sub-metropolis, Sunsari, yesterday.

Police said an over-speeding car heading towards Itahari from Dharan hit a tractor first and then collided with another bus coming from the opposite direction along the Dharan-Itahari road section in Charkoshe Jungle at around 11:30 pm yesterday.

Four persons were traveling in the car and all of them died in the accident.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police at Area Police Office, Dharan, Suman Kumar Timsina, Anil Shrestha and Madan Limbu of Itahari sub-metropolis, Janak Budhathoki of Mahalaxmi Municipality, Dhankuta; and the car driver Govinda Basnet of Sundar Haraincha Municipality, Morang, died in the accident.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Timsina informed that Shrestha died on the spot, Limbu and Budhathoki breathed their last in the course of treatment in BP Koirala Institute of Health and Sciences, Basnet breathed his last while undergoing treatment in the Biratnagar-based Birat Nursing Home the same night.

Police said Krishna Rajbanshi, Dil Kumar Rajbanshi and Binod Karki, who were traveling on the tractor and bus passenger Sukri Kala Rai were injured in the accident.

They are receiving treatment in BP Koirala Institute of Health and Science, Dharan.

Doctors at the hospital said that the condition of the injured was normal.

Police said the tractor was heading towards Itahari from Khandbari carrying a generator and water tanks.

All the vehicles were badly damaged in the accident, said police.

Further investigation into the accident is under way, said police.
