Four held for cow slaughter in Kapilvastu

JITPUR, KAPILVASTU: As many as four persons were arrested on the charge of cow slaughter from Bijayapur Rural Municipality-4 in Kapilvastu district on Saturday.

The arrested have been identified as Hum Bahadur Rana (70), Kumari Gharti,Ram Kumari Gharti and Kunti Thapa, all local residents.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Rana from Jyotinagar on Friday night along with 30 Kilo grams of beef from his possession. During the interrogation, Rana confessed to the killing of cow, according to police.

After the confession of Rana, police on Saturday arrested Kumar, Ram Kumar and Kunti for their collusion on the crime, informed Khim Bahadur Gham, Chief of Area Police Office, Ganeshpur.

Cow is the national animal and its slaughter is prohibited by law.

Meanwhile, all the arrested have been detained at the Krishnanagar Police Office and further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
