Four hurt as Sudur-Paschim Province minister's jeep rams motorcycle

DHANGADHI: As many as four persons were injured after a jeep belonging to Sudur-Paschim Province's Social Development Minister Dirgha Bahadur Sodari rammed a motorcycle in Gauriganga Municipality-7 of Kailali district on Friday night.

The injured have been identified as motorcycle rider Surendra Chand, pillion rider Bharat Bohara, jeep driver Dhojendra Shah and his niece Ayushma Shahi (10) aboard the four-wheeler.

According to Kailali District Police Office, the Scorpio jeep (Ba 2 Jha 3125) collided head-on with the motorcycle (Se 3 Pa 2420) injuring the motorcycle riders as well as travellers aboard the jeep, at Badhaipur, at around 9:00 last night.

It has been reported that the jeep was heading in a westward direction towards Dhangadhi when it collided with the motorcycle.

Chand who was said to be in critical condition was referred to a health institution in Kathmandu while three others are undergoing treatment at Dhangadhi-based Maya Metro Hospital, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hira Bahadur Bali.

The DSP informed that Minister Sodari was not aboard the vehicle while local residents have argued that the minister was present when the incident occurred.
