Four killed in three road mishaps

Hetaunda, June 12:

Four persons died in three separate road mishaps yesterday and today.

Shiva Ram Dhakal died when a motorbike he was driving was hit by a cargo truck at Hetaunda 11 Nawalpur last night.

The bereaved family and locals blocked the highway for 15 hours.

The highway blocked from 11:00 pm yesterday was re-opened at 3:00 pm today.

In another incident at the same place, seven-year-old Mangal Moktan of Basamadi VDC-5 died on the spot when a truck hit him near Santoshi Oil at Basamadi VDC on the highway this evening. Protesting the incident, locals again disrupted traffic on the highway from 6:00 pm.

The highway re-opened from 3:00 pm was obstructed again from 6:00 pm, said the police.

Earlier, the highway was re-opened after an agreement between the administration, bereaved family and vehicle owners, said superintendent of police in Makawanpur Romendra Singh Deuja.

Two persons died in mishaps at Churiyamai on the Prithvi highway this evening. Rama Nepal, 25, of Bara’s Mahendrangar VDC, who was travelling in the Mahindra pick-up heading from Birgunj to Hetaunda, and another unidentified person, who was on board the same vehicle, died on the spot when a truck collided with the pick-up, SP Deuja said.
