Four of a family held on murder charge
Bara, October 21
Bara District Police Office made public Makhan Sah Kanu, who was arrested on a murder charge, on its premises today.
Makhan of Sitalpur Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City-12 had been absconding after Manejar Sah Kanu, a local, died due to a thrashing he received from Makhan and his three sons.
A dispute had broken out between Makhan and Manejar when the latter was asked to pay money for irrigating his field on 6 June 2018. The dispute had resulted in the thrashing.
An injured Manejar died while undergoing treatment at Kathmandu-based Neuro Hospital, a month later. After Manejar’s death, his son Prabhu had filed a first information report against Makhan and his three sons with the district police office.
Deputy Superintendent of Police of Bara District Police Office Ranjit Singh Rathaur said four members of a family, including the father, had landed in custody after the dispute erupted over payment of Rs 2,225 for irrigation.
Manejar was supposed to pay the money. The dispute had stemmed from not paying the irrigation fee. As the dispute took an ugly turn, Makhan and his three sons had beaten Manejar with bamboo sticks, leaving him injured.
Police had arrested Makhan Sah Kanu from a hideout in Sitalpur on October 17. Makhan’s three sons were held earlier. The arrested three sons were remanded to Birgunj Prison for investigation.
