Four outstanding persons rewarded

Rudra-Gauri Shree-Ambika Oli Foundation has awarded four persons from different walks of life for their contribution to society through various social works.
Principal Scientist (agronomy) and senior rice expert Bhola Man Singh Basnet of Kathmandu was awarded with Rudra Prasad Oli Smriti Krishi Puraskar for his contribution to increasing the production of rice.
Similarly, the organisation conferred Devi Oli Smriti Adarsha Aama Puraskar on Mathuradevi Kunwar of Achham for her contribution to empowering women with HIV/AIDS.
Ambikadevi Oli Smriti Sahitya Puraskar was given to professor Mahan Raj Sharma of Kirtipur for his contribution to literature and Devi Oli Smriti Baal Puraskar was given to Riwaj Shrestha of Baglung for his contribution to the field of science.
The awards to Basnet, Kunwar and Sharma carry a purse of Rs 101,111 each, while the award to Shrestha carries a purse of Rs 51,111.
According to Ganga Prasad Oli, chairperson of RGSAOF, the award is a small initiative of the foundation to recognise and promote commendable works of various individuals.
A press statement issued here today by RGSAOF said that the foundation has been conferring awards in four categories to persons from various walks of life every year since its establishment in 2012.
The statement said that the award was conferred on the recipients yesterday by Deputy Prime Minister Chandra Prasad Mainali in Birtamode, Jhapa.
