Four Tarai Army workers held
RAUTAHAT: Intensifying the clampdown on the workers of armed Tarai outfits, police here detained four cadres of Tarai Army – one of the several armed underground groups operating in the southern plains of the country – in possession of weapons from Ragunathpur VDC of the district today.
A team deployed from District Police Office Rautahat, under the command of DSP Ramesh Khadka, apprehended them with weapons during a raid on four houses in Sakhuwa village. The detained have been identified as Dinesh Raya Yadav, Binod Das, Pramod Das and Manoj Das. According to DSP Khadka, one pistol, two khukuris, one motorcycle and some important documents were seized from them. SP Pitambar Adhikari said two other armed cadres had managed to flee during the raid.
Police intensified the crack down on the cadres of the outfit after “Mister Bishal”, commander of the group, threatened Rautahat chairman of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Prem Chandra Jha, with life two days ago.
