Free internet for public schools, offices

Nepal Telecommunications Authority will provide free internet facility for all community and government schools in the five eastern districts of the country.

NTA will provide free internet to 959 schools, health organisations, municipalities and rural municipalities along with ward offices of Panchthar, Taplejung, Tehrathum, Bhojpur and Khotang districts. Project Coordinator Pradip Kumar Chaudhary at Techminds Network said work was under way to expand internet facility in five districts of eastern Nepal. He said the internet would be provided for two years.

At a programme organised in Phidim of Panchthar today representatives of NTA and officials from Techminds said people from rural areas would benefit from access to internet. Chaudhary said NTA would provide technical assistance to expand fibre and wireless networks in those districts for other service seekers.
