Free ultrasound service at local health post fulfils Kailali village women’s wish

DHANGADHI, JANUARY 1

The establishment of ultrasound service at a local health post in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City has fulfilled wishes of Kailali women.

Moreover, the service is free of charge.

Fulmati Chaudhary of Dhangadhi sub-metropolis visited Fulbari Health Post to have her pregnancy tested today. Earlier, Chaudhary used to visit Dhangadhi for her pregnancy tested which was costly. “I am very happy as ultra-sound service started in the village for free,” said Chaudhary, adding, “I used to visit Dhangadhi frequently after the doctor told me the baby was sitting upside down.”

Birma Kami of Kharetti at Kailari Rural Municipality said she visited the local health post after the ultrasound service started at Fulbari Health Post for pregnancy checkup today. “The availability of ultrasound service in the local health post has elated me. The ultrasound check-up shows that the condition of the baby is normal in the womb,” Kami added.

More than a dozen women underwent ultrasound test for pregnancy at the local health post today.

Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City Chief Nrip Bahadur Wad inaugurated the ultrasound machine at the Fulbari Health Post today itself.

Chief Wad said his municipality had brought the ultrasound service into operation with an objective of providing service to pregnant women in the village. “The ultrasound service would not only give relief to pregnant women but also bring the infant and maternal mortality rate down,” Wad said.

Chief Administrative Officer Jagannath Pant at Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis said free ultrasound service in the village had come as a blessing for the women.

Health Department Chief Dr Khagendra Bam of the sub-metropolis said health workers were trained to operate ultrasound.
