FSFN Chair Upendra Yadav warns of protest
Rajbiraj, September 21
Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Central Chairman Upendra Yadav warned their protest would continue until autonomous Madhes Pradesh was declared.
Addressing a mass gathering at Gajendrachowk of Rajbiraj today, Yadav said that their protest would continue until Madhes was declared an autonomous pradesh and representation of people based on the population was ensured. “The ongoing Tharuhat and Madhes agitation is political and police suppression must be stopped immediately to settle the burning issue through political mechanism,” he argued.
“The new statute was against the welfare of Madhesi, Tharu, indigenous nationalities and the Muslims among other minorities. It is a useless piece of paper; hence it is not acceptable to us.” He warned of stronger retaliation if the state did not stop the use of force on their peaceful agitation.
CPN-Maoist Coordinator Matrika Prasad Yadav accused the senior leaders of three major parties of promulgating the new statute for their vested interests. “This constitution is not valid for us,” he claimed.
