FSU head thrashed
MAHENDRANAGAR: Students affiliated to All Nepal Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) attacked the president of Free Students’ Union Basanta Joshi of Mahendranagar based-campus Sharada Bidhyapith on Tuesday afternoon.
Joshi was severely injured on the head and different parts of body. Joshi’s colleagues found him lying unconscious and rushed him to Mahendranagar Zonal Hospital.
Joshi was photocopying papers of demands that were raised by FSU when a group of revolutionary students appeared on the scene. They grabbed the papers from him and tore them up, manhandling him in the process. The group was led by Rajendra Abasthi , a candidate for the top post who had been defeated in the FSU election.
Protesting the attack on Joshi, Nepal Students’ Union has padlocked the campus for an indefinite period.
ANNISU-R has been demanding that the FSU election results be overturned.
