Fugitive arrested from TIA
Damauli, January 30
A police team arrested Narayan Prasad Pokhrel, 36, who was at large after making a rape attempt on a 13-year-old girl. Pokhrel was arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu on Friday.
Inspector Bijay Raj Pandit at Tanahun District Police Office said that a police team dispatched to the airport had arrested Pokhrel.
Pokhrel had taken the teenage girl to a hotel in Tanahun’s Dumre bazaar and tried to rape her there about a month ago.
Six days after the incident, the girl’s family had registered a case against Pokhrel at the police office.
Tanahun police had informed the airport police in Kathmandu about the perpetrator suspecting that he might leave for a foreign country as he had returned home after working abroad only a few months ago.
“We arrested Pokhrel based on the information that he was going abroad for foreign employment,” said Inspector Pandit.
He also said that Pokhrel would be handed over to Tanahun police for further course of action.
