Fugitive murder convict arrested from Indian border after 10 yrs

INARUWA: District Police Office, Sunsari on Friday publicised a convicted murderer who has been arrested after 10 years on the run.

The arrested has been identified as Alauddin Miyan of Kosakapur, Navagunj Village Panchayat of Araria District, in India.

Miyan was arrested by a joint team from deployed from the DPO and the Devangunj-based Area Police Office, from the area near Indian border, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Bidyananda Mahji at the DPO.

Miyan was convicted of murdering Devananda Mehta of Sunsari. Mehta was shot to death on October 25, 2008.

Meanwhile, the Sunsari District Court has extended Miyan's custody for further investigation.

Among the three murderers of Mehta, police were successful in arresting Miyan. Police are still searching for Pachu Miyan and Kamaal Miyan involved in the murder.
