POKHARA, JUNE 3

A Gandaki Provincial Assembly seat has fallen vacant after Krishna Thapa, a lawmaker representing Rastriya Janamorcha, was expelled from the PA today.

In today's meeting of Gandaki Province Assembly, Speaker Netra Nath Adhikari informed the Province Assembly about the vacant post on the basis of letters received from Rastriya Janamorcha Central Office and Gandaki Province Parliamentary Party of Rastriya Janamorcha.

Thapa was elected from Baglung-1 (B) representing Rastriya Janamorcha party.

Speaker Adhikari said that Thapa was removed from the post of Province Assembly member as per the Constitution of Nepal, Political Party Act 2016 and Gandaki Province's Province Assembly Regulations, 2017.

Lawmaker Thapa had disobeyed the party's call to side with the opposition political parties including Nepali Congress in forming the new government in Gandaki Province.

Rastriya Janamorcha Party removed Thapa on the same ground, stating that the party's lawmaker had acted against the party decision.

Meanwhile, Thapa said that he could not stand against the people's mandate.
