BARA, SEPTEMBER 10

Frustrated by Jitpursimara Sub-metropolitan City's failure to collect garbage for the past one week, local residents in Bara took to the streets, staging a protest and disposing trash at the sub-metropolis' gate.

Led by Sunil Kumar Gupta, the chair of Ward No 7, a group of protesting locals dumped the garbage at the sub-metropolis' entrance gate.

The sub-metropolis irresponsible for waste management in partnership with Birgunj's Integrated Waste Management Centre. However, following the centre's request to halt waste collection temporarily for maintenance purpose, the sub-metropolis stopped garbage collection.

The accumulation of garbage along the roadsides in Simara and Jitpur has resulted in unpleasant odour and growing frustration among the locals.

Social media has been abuzz with criticism directed at the sub-metropolis for its failure to address the issue promptly.

Birgunj's Mayor, Rajeshman Singh, expressed his lack of awareness regarding the non-collection of garbage in Jitpur Simara. He pledged to instruct contractors to resume waste collection starting tomorrow.
