Garjeni victims stranded in Lucknow

Two survivors of the Garjeni bus mishap, who are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Luckhnow, are living a virtual prisoners’ life there. Chet Prasad Rijal of Bijubar-1 and Ashish Poudel of Bijubar-4 have recovered but the Jivan Jyoti hospital in Luckhnow has not sent them home, as their medical bills have not been paid by the Rapti Zonal Transport Entrepreneurs’ Committee. Amar Adhikari of Nayagaon, who was receiving treatment at the same hospital, died. The hospital management has decided not to release them until their medical bills, which amounted to Rs 170,000, are paid, Dr Mohammad Sakil, head of the hospital, said over the telephone. According to him, transport body’s representative Saroj Pandey, who was attending them during the treatment, is not with them now. Meanwhile, the families of the deceased passengers prevented all buses belonging to the Rapti Zonal Transport Committee from plying in Pyuthan and Rolpa from yesterday.
