BHOJPUR: Cooking gas leakage caused a fire in Makalu VDC of Sankhuwasabha district on Thursday, destroying property worth around Rs 760,000.

The house of Tikmitru Rai in Makalu VDC-7 had caught fire after the cooking gas leaked from a stove this morning, police said.

Valuables including food items, clothes and kitchen utensils were reduced to ashes.

Police, assisted by locals, had contained the fire by the afternoon.
