Sobita Gautam of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected to the House of Representatives from Chitwan-3, registering a comfortable victory in the March 5 election.

According to the District Election Office, Gautam secured 59,277 votes, defeating her nearest rival Renu Dahal of the Nepali Communist Party, who garnered 20,615 votes.

Tek Prasad Gurung of the Nepali Congress finished third with 8,344 votes, followed by Shankarraj Thapaliya of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) with 5,004 votes and Deepak Thapa Magar of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party with 1,226 votes.

Out of 155,212 registered voters in the constituency, 100,033 ballots were cast, including 3,375 invalid votes.

Meanwhile, other RSP candidates also secured victories in different constituencies.

In Arghakhanchi, Hari Prasad Bhusal was elected with 35,023 votes, defeating Pitambar Bhusal of the UML, who received 22,649 votes. Bishnu Prasad Khanal of the Nepali Congress secured 18,297 votes.

Similarly, in Rautahat-1, Rajesh Kumar Chaudhary won the seat with 28,946 votes, defeating Ajay Kumar Gupta of the UML, who garnered 10,693 votes. Anil Jha of the Nepali Congress obtained 8,574 votes, while former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal received 7,669 votes.

In Lamjung, Dharma Raj KC of the RSP was elected with 33,898 votes. Prithvi Subba Gurung of the UML secured 16,876 votes, while Gam Prasad Gurung of the Nepali Congress received 16,569 votes.
